Specialty crop grants available

first_imgIndianapolis, In. — The Indiana State Department of Agriculture is now accepting grant applications to grow the state’s specialty crop sector. These crops include fruits, vegetables, dried fruit, tree nuts, horticulture and nursery crops.“I encourage groups interested in enhancing specialty crop production in Indiana to take full advantage of this opportunity,” said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “Whether it’s applying individually or as part of a collaborative effort, these grants have the potential to create long-term, innovative solutions to some of the challenges facing producers today.”The federally funded Specialty Crop Block Grant program works to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in the marketplace. Joshua sparring ‘chubby’ fighters for Ruiz Jr

first_imgRelatedPostsNo Content Available Anthony Joshua is sparring with fighters who are similar to the size and style of Andy Ruiz Jr, Eddie Hearn revealed. The former champion is aiming to reclaim the world titles he lost to Ruiz Jr last June, in what was one of boxing’s biggest ever upsets. Joshua admitted to underestimating Ruiz Jr before their first fight and his promoter, Hearn, confirmed “chubby” fighters had been drafted into camp to replicate the Mexican’s style.“It’s madness. There’s eight weeks to go, and he’s been in camp for four week already,” Hearn told Fino Boxing.“A lot of early sparring now in replicating the style of Ruiz.“Last time we had probably three weeks of sparring, and it was tough to find a guy like Ruiz, because there aren’t many like him. “Small, a little bit chubby, fast hands, and really good on the inside. “Now we’ve replicated that, and I feel like the preparation is going to be great. Andy Ruiz is in camp.”While Joshua steps up his preparations ahead of the December rematch, Ruiz Jr has warned his rival he will not be the same fighter when they meet again in the rematch.Ruiz Jr weighed in at 268lbs for the first fight with Joshua, the heaviest the 30-year-old has been since 2010.“I will arrive in better condition…. lighter, faster and more powerful,” Ruiz told ESPN Deportes.“People will always talk like this, but I have faith that we’re going to win and shut up more mouths.“I have a lot of respect for Anthony, outside the ring he is a very good man. “But inside [the ring] there are no friends, there is no respect or anything. It will not be an easy fight.“I think it will be a hard fight, but nothing is easy in life, so we are training very hard. We will be prepared for whatever he brings.” Tags: Hearnlast_img read more

2021 AFCON Race: Eagles, Leone Stars to clash in Asaba

The match will be played on Friday, 27th March 2020,” NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said at the weekend. The venue, named after former Nigeria captain and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi (of blessed memory), has hosted several international matches involving the Super Eagles and the Nigeria U23 squad, since it was opened two years ago. Uganda was the first opposition entertained at the venue by the Super Eagles in a friendly match days after Nigeria sealed a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations ticket in South Africa in November 2018. The match ended scoreless. The Eagles have since lashed Seychelles 3-1 (2019 AFCON qualifier) and pipped seven-time African champions Egypt 1-0 (a friendly) at the same venue, as well as enacting a scoreless draw with Zimbabwe in a pre-2019 AFCON friendly in June last year. The U23 boys turned back Libya and Sudan in 2019 U23 AFCON qualifying matches at the same venue. With the Nigeria Football Federation having picked March 27 for the first match, the Sierra Leone Football Association is now most likely to opt for March 31 (the final day in the FIFA window) for the return leg scheduled for the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown. Victory in next month’s Matchday 3 fixture against the Leone Stars will take the Super Eagles closer to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals as they currently perch at the top of their pool with the maximum six points from their first two matches and a goals difference of plus three. A 2-1 win over Benin Republic in Uyo on November 13 was followed by a 4-2 whiplash of Lesotho in Maseru four days later. The Super Eagles have further dates against the Squirrels of Benin Republic in Cotonou (in June) and the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Nigeria (in September).Tags: 2021 Africa CUp of NationsDelta StateStephen Keshi StadiumStephen Okechukwu KeshiSuper Eagleslast_img read more

NPFL: Rangers beat Kano Pillars in Enugu

Chinonso Eziekwe scored the only goal of the match in the 70th minute to send the home fans into wild jubilation. Speaking after the match, Rangers’ Assistant Coach, Mbwas Mangut, expressed joy over the outcome of the match. Mangut said the match was tough, but they were grateful to God that they won. He said: “We prepared well for this match because it is one of the matches that we should be winning. “No doubt, the match could have gone either way as lots of chances were missed by the two teams, but we were lucky to have converted one. “But we should have sealed the win before the interval.” Kano Pillars FC’s coach, Ibrahim Musa, on his part said his team played better than their hosts and blamed his players for missing lots of scoring opportunities. Musa said: “Our target was to win this match and we created up to six to seven scoring chances, but we did not convert them. “Football is all about scoring, but we could not score and our opponents scored. “So, we need to work hard next time if we want to score. “Now we have to go back to the drawing board and work on our finishing because we have to combine communication with finishing. “Rangers are a good team, but you cannot compare Rangers with Kano Pillars here because this is Rangers’ home.” Musa said his team created scoring chances more than their hosts and were supposed to win the match, only to be let down by finishing. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the win lifted Rangers to 16th from 17th on the log, with 23 points after 17 matches. Kano Pillars however dropped to the 9th position with 27 points after 19 matches.Tags: Chinonso EziekweIbrahim MusaMbwas MangutRangers International FClast_img read more
