Wilmington Fire Department Promotes Walter Daly and Robert Varey To Lieutenants

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — Town Manager Jeff Hull recently announced the appointment of Walter Daly and Robert Varey III to the positions of Lieutenants in the Wilmington Fire Department.Walter Daly, who has been a firefighter in town for more than 24 years, will serve as the Lieutenant for Operations. Daly’s duties include managing the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) recertification and training for the department; ensuring that vehicle apparatus is scheduled for maintenance and repair as needed; maintaining the inventory of first aid supplies; and arranging for maintenance of stretchers, automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and other equipment used by the department.Robert Varey III, who has been a firefighter in town for more than 11 years, will serve as the Fire Prevention Officer. His duties include inspection of industries throughout town; quarterly inspection of nursing homes and medical facilities; inspection of new construction prior to issuance of the occupancy permit; oil burner inspections; serving as a liaison with the seniors working with the Elderly Services Director; and providing education to students in the Wilmington Public Schools.“I welcome both individuals into their new roles and expect they will serve the businesses and residents of Wilmington with the same knowledge, professionalism, and commitment that have shown to date,” says Hull.Like Wilmington Apple on Facebook.
